02Model

A speedup claim invites a cleverer algorithm to overturn it, and one usually does. A resource claim does not work that way: name the task, state the energy budget and the latency bound, and say whether the incumbent finishes inside both. That form is falsifiable, it survives a better algorithm because the algorithm still has to beat a budget, and it forces a real application in, which rules out being efficient at something nobody needed. Your figure has to carry its router accuracy, its readout, and the hardware its baseline came from, because a reader who cannot see those cannot check you.

03Guided practice

Write the composed cost, then state it against a budget that comes from a real situation rather than from your result. Then check whether your own claim survives a router twenty points worse than the one you measured.

PASS WHEN You stated the result as a budget with its router accuracy attached, and showed what happens to it when the unmeasured accuracy is assumed worse.

If your run fails, check:

A budget claim survives a cleverer algorithm; a speedup claim does not.
A claim that cannot be attacked has not been stated precisely enough.
