A reactor does not want to follow load. Its economics come from running flat at high capacity, and its physics resists rapid manoeuvre. A fleet of machines does the opposite: charging surges either side of a shift change, inference that never quite stops, and a long quiet night. Put them together with nothing in between and you lose energy twice, in two different ways. When the fleet draws less than the core makes, the surplus has nowhere to go and is curtailed. When the fleet draws more, the shortfall is simply unserved. Both are losses and they are not the same loss: one is the core making power nobody can take, and the other is the site wanting power nobody has. Adding capacity fixes one. Only moving energy through time fixes the other.
